MAISON MOREAU 1882

Moreau Paris history began in Paris in 1882. Martin-Guillaume Biennais, a revolutionary cabinetmaker and official supplier of Emperor Napoleon I, affirmed his expertise within the exclusive circle of luxury leather goods manufacturers. At a later stage, the artisans took over his cabinet and established the Maison, giving it the roots to grow into the luxury powerhouse it is today.

Moreau’s flagship store was then opened on 49 rue Saint-Honoré, becoming an international hub for the modern jetsetters. The Maison combined tradition and innovation to cultivate its own authentic style, crafting an inimitable collection of bags and luggage.

Maison Moreau authenticity is the result of exceptional French know-how, both in the manufacturing process and in the selection of the materials used. By paying homage to French heritage, Maison Moreau designs timeless selections that are functional, light, elegant and customisable for everyday use.

The iconic pattern of Maison Moreau is inspired by the intertwining of wicker stems, which formed the structure of different travel goods in the late 19th century. This unique signature print is reimagined on calf leather with a traditional printing technique that uses a semi-manual paint application, creating vibrant and deep colours.

LEATHER TRUNK

Maison Moreau then created a leather trunk with a now iconic pattern, inspired by basketry and drawings of wicker trunks braids. It remained there until the early twentieth century, when it ceased trading.

RENAISSANCE

In 2011, a trunk signed Moreau at the flea market in Paris is recovered. It belonged to the industrialist and man of the world Robert Bellanger, the last tenant of Fort Brégançon.

Therefore, Maison Moreau has been working, between tradition and innovation, to preserve and renew the House's singular and authentic universe, with a collection of bags and luggage that are unique in their identity and philosophy.

The brand settled at 4, rue de Miromesnil in Paris 8 and presented its first collection of luxurious and refined luggage and bags under the brand name Moreau Paris.

 49, RUE DU FAUBOURG SAINT-HONORÉ

At the beginning of 2017, Moreau Paris boutique opened its doors at 49, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The space was designed by architect Jeff Van Dyck, who offers a decor that reflects the emblematic blue of the Maison, combined with noble materials such as dark oak, brass fixtures, antique gilding, Versailles parquet flooring and a store front that evokes the codes of the 19th century.

Maison Moreau wants to be the guardian of exceptional French know-how, both in the manufacture and in the selection of the materials used. The result is timeless selections that are functional, light and elegant, which are personalized and enhanced by the patina of everyday use.
